E-governance Project and Initiatives

Gujarat is a leader in the execution of e-governance policies and programmes. It has been increasingly using the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to ensure accountable governance and efficient delivery of citizen services. For its proactive initiatives,Gujarat ranks first state in the country to ensure e-governance in all its Municipalities and Municipal Corporations. The Government’s Science and Technology Department acts as a medium to make Government-Citizen Interface more effective, efficient and transparent. Gujarat has been position at L2 Stage in Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) which is categorised based on Environment, Readiness and Usage of Applications.

Gujarat State Data Centre

Under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Government of India, State Data Centre (SDC) has been identified as one of the core and critical infrastructure components essential for the delivery of e-Governance services. The StateGovernment has set up Gujarat State Data Center (GSDC) in Gandhinagar, and has connected it to all the Government offices through GSWAN infrastructure.

ICT and e-readiness Initiatives

All departments have prepared their IT Action Plan. Each department has Chief Information Officer (CIO) who reports directly to Secretary of the department.

Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy 2022-27

According to the policy, Gujarat is committed towards promoting faster & inclusive growth in the IT/IteS sector with focus on attracting investments and generating employment opportunities across the State. The policy also focuses on propelling growth incentives and facilitation.
